Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 27, 2026

This policy explains what information Topicly: AI Daily Insights (“Topicly”, “we”), published by OlaaSoft, processes when you use the Topicly mobile app and this website, where it is stored, and the choices you have. Feature availability can vary by app version and platform.

This website

This website has no accounts, logins, advertising or analytics scripts, and it does not set tracking cookies. Fonts are served from this site. When you send a message through the Support or Feedback forms, we receive what you enter (your email, optional name, subject, device type, rating and message) and use it only to reply and to improve Topicly. Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs, such as IP address and browser type, for security and abuse prevention, and a short-lived counter per IP address limits form spam.

Your account

You can browse the app without an account; in that case your chosen topics, likes and reads stay on your device. To receive discoveries you sign in with email and password, Google, or Apple (Apple on iPhone only). Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google). Our backend stores your email address, a Firebase user ID, your app language, your time zone and your plan. It does not store your password or your display name.

What we store to run the service

  • Topics and schedule: the topics you follow, their focus, depth, reading time and delivery times.
  • Custom topics: the text you write (up to 200 characters). Custom topics are private to you. Please don’t put sensitive personal information in them.
  • Reading activity: which discoveries were delivered and read, favorites, “Interested” / “Not interested” choices, reading days for your streak, and daily usage counters for plan limits.
  • Quizzes: the questions generated for your topics. Your individual answers are scored but not stored.
  • Feedback: if you answer the in-app “Are you enjoying Topicly?” prompt, your answer and any reason you write.
  • Notifications: a device token from Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send your discovery at the time you chose. A notification contains the discovery’s title and a short line of text.
  • Security records: rate-limit counters keyed by a one-way hash of your IP address or email, and audit records of account events such as plan changes.

This data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Railway in the EU (Amsterdam). Your plan limits how far back you can view history; they do not delete it.

AI providers

Discoveries and quizzes are written by OpenAI. On some plans, drafts are also reviewed by Anthropic and Google Gemini before they are stored. To write a discovery we send the topic (including your custom topic text), its focus, depth, reading time, language, and titles of recent articles in that topic so the new one doesn’t repeat them. We do not send your name, email, user ID or time zone. Requests to OpenAI are made with storage turned off. Each provider’s own data policy also applies.

Some discoveries show a public-domain or Creative Commons image from Wikimedia Commons. The app loads these images directly from Wikimedia, so Wikimedia receives your device’s IP address when an image is shown.

Diagnostics and analytics

To keep the app reliable we use Firebase Crashlytics and Sentry (EU region) for crash and error reports, and Firebase Remote Config for settings. Error reports can include device and app details and, for Sentry, a screenshot of the screen where an error happened. We use Mixpanel for aggregated usage statistics. We don’t attach your name or email to these reports.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google and managed through Adapty. Adapty receives an internal customer ID (not your email) so your plan can be restored on your devices. We never see your payment details.

Advertising

The current version of Topicly shows no ads. If we add advertising in a future version, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Sharing a discovery

When you share a discovery, the link contains only the article, not who shared it, and it expires after 30 days. People who open it see the title and summary on a web page.

On your device

The app keeps your sign-in session in secure storage, and caches settings (theme, language, haptics, motion, quiz), your topics, likes, reads and recent discoveries so the app works quickly and offline. The home-screen widget stores the latest discovery’s title and topic. Uninstalling the app removes this local data.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app at any time. This deletes your profile, sessions, topics and custom topics, deliveries, favorites and other interactions, reading days, quizzes, feedback and device tokens from our database, and deletes your Firebase sign-in identity. We keep a one-way hash of your former sign-in ID (to process the deletion reliably), security and audit records, and discoveries in the shared public catalog, which contain no personal data. Signing out removes the device token and ends your session but keeps the local cache on that device. To ask about data held by Adapty or other providers, contact us.

What we don’t do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not use your location, contacts, camera or microphone. The app only reads your device’s time zone.

Children

Topicly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Your rights and contact

You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your information. Email support@topicly.me or use the Support page. We will update this page when our practices change and show the date at the top.
